Fintech S3 debuts stock squeeze risk score on Bloomberg Terminal

S3 Partners now offers a Squeeze Risk Score to all Bloomberg Terminal subscribers.

The predictive analytics tool allows clients to determine whether stocks are at risk of a potential short squeeze and will help risk managers to identify and incorporate new risk factors into their investment processes.

S3 Squeeze’s short squeeze risk score folds additional risk factors and insights into short sale risks associated with individual securities, providing a straightforward proxy for the daily, weekly and monthly aggregate trading losses and profits in short positions for listed companies.

The higher the score, the higher the risk of volatility. S3 Squeeze also indicates whether a short seller should cover their position or long buyers should identify names with momentum.

The fintech and data analytics firm’s new S3 Squeeze will replace the currently available S3 Rate Temperature and will be provided on a 30-day delay, with real-time data available in S3's BLACK App Excel and S3's enterprise data offering.

This data will be available to new and existing clients of S3's best-selling BLACK APP on 30 June.

S3 has identified 583 securities at risk globally, with a total market cap value of $1.4 trillion, with 277 identified in North America, 161 in the Asia Pacific region, 117 in the European Union and a further 28 across the rest of the globe.

S3 founder Bob Sloan says: “We remain committed to providing enterprise data and analytics that investors use to identify risks and opportunities in real-time.

“The S3 Squeeze Risk Score is the only place institutional investors can go to measure and identify global securities that will be subject to short squeeze risk events. We are excited to make these analytics available to our clients as well as all Bloomberg Terminal subscribers.”
