BNY Mellon has appointed Dean Sakati to the newly created position of head of strategy and business development for securities finance with the firm’s Global Collateral Services business.

Sakati will be based in Boston and report to Mike McAuley, managing director of product and strategy for securities finance.

Sakati joins BNY Mellon from AXOPA, where he was one of the founders of a buy-side focused company that brings together leading financial trading technologies to help clients through the investment management process.

Nadine Chakar, executive vice president and head of product development and strategy for BNY Mellon’s Global Collateral Services business, said: “Sakati brings a wealth of experience in developing and implementing organic business strategies, forming business partnerships and making strategic acquisitions.”

“The scale of regulatory and market change that we are seeing around the world means that we must continue to invest and innovate to deliver new solutions both within the collateral space and across the entire investment lifecycle.”

Kurt Woetzel, CEO of Global Collateral Services, said: “As they face increasing pressure to deliver results, clients can leverage BNY Mellon’s services to help manage counterparty and market risk in their collateral transactions, engage in new investment opportunities to help maximise their returns and access new financing alternatives.”
