State Street Global Advisors has appointed Alex Sun as managing director and head of China.
In this newly created role, Sun will be responsible for formulating and implementing the business plan of State Street Global Advisors for China.
Based in Shanghai, Sun will report to June Wong, head of Asia, excluding Japan.
Sun has also been appointed head of State Street Global Advisors’ newly established wholly foreign-owned enterprise (WFOE) in China.
Prior to State Street Global Advisors, Sun spent 12 years at HSBC Jintrust—HSBC Global Asset Management's China joint venture—serving as assistant general manager and head of institutional and wholesale business.
Wong said: “China offers significant long-term growth potential for us. Alex Sun has more than 15 years of asset management experience in China and has accumulated a breadth of expertise in relation to the onshore fund management business.”
She added: “With his on-the-ground expertise and relationships, Sun will utilise our investment management WFOE in Shanghai as a springboard to help State Street Global Advisors build out our long-term business plan in this very sizable and strategically important market.”
