The International Securities Lending Association (ISLA) has announced that Fredrik Carstens has joined the organisation as a public affairs advisor.

Based in Munich, Carstens will engage with industry stakeholders supporting ISLA’s work in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, to further develop the relationship with market regulators and policy makers and advocate for the role of securities lending in the financial markets.

Carstens will work closely with member firms and industry organisations supporting their needs and requirements in developing the industry.

He brings more than 30 years of financial markets experience to the role, working both in trading and in senior sales positions in the securities lending industry.

Carstens spent eight years at Deutsche Bank, most recently as global head of sales and client relationships in London.

Prior to this, Carstens acted as managing director for Dresdner Bank during his 14 year career with the firm, after spending a decade at J.P Morgan Chase where he held several senior positions.

Adrian Dale, head of regulation, digital and market practice at ISLA says: “With 2022 already showing signs of being a busy year, I very much welcome Fredrik to ISLA. His considerable securities lending knowledge will be a major benefit to the Association and our members.”

Andrew Dyson, CEO at ISLA, adds: “I am delighted to welcome Fredrik to the team. He brings with him a wealth of experience in our markets that will prove invaluable as we further develop our business across Europe.”
