Citi has made a series of senior appointments to its Australia Markets and Research business team to support the growing client demand that the US-based bank is reporting in this location.
Howard Ilderton has rejoined Citi as head of linear product and trading for Australia and New Zealand, having previously served in Citi’s Prime and D1 teams from 2007 to 2014. Most recently, Ilderton has worked at Credit Suisse, where he headed the Japan prime services and APAC securities lending division.
Norbert Wong will step into Citi’s prime services team in June in a client-facing securities lending and Delta 1 sales position. He has previously held roles at Macquarie Bank and Credit Suisse, working closely with hedge fund clients.
Citi has strengthened its Low Touch Electronic Execution division with the hire of Allan Newsome, who has relocated from Citi’s prime services team in Hong Kong. Previously Newsome has held buy- and sell-side positions in London and Hong Kong.
In July, Will Buttigieg will move into Citi’s equity trading team as senior trader, having spent the past 17 years in trading positions for UBS, particularly specialising in equity derivatives.
These appointments follow the appointment of Niki Ashton as managing director and senior relationship manager to support growing client business in Australia, particularly from superannuation fund clients.
Commenting on the hires, Citi Australia’s head of equities Daniel Young says: “Citi is continuing to make significant investments, including building out non-cash and trading capabilities, ensuring that we have the experience, skills and capacity to meet increasing activity from our clients.”
