Data Explorers (DX) will now be providing data to FT.com which will allow monitoring of short positions alongside the market data on the Company pages and Stock Screener.

Data Explorers is the leading global provider of securities financing data and daily long and short institutional fund flow insight. The company maintains a comprehensive dataset of stock loan data, providing an accurate proxy for the breadth and depth of global market activity. Institutional money managers use DX data to gauge equity market sentiment across stocks, sectors and asset classes.

Short Selling Activity on FT.com shows the proportion of issued shares currently borrowed in each stock to cover short sales. The demand to borrow stock is shown as one of three categories: low, medium and high.

Sourced from banks, agent lenders and asset owners, Data Explorers securities financing information is timely, daily and global.

Donal Smith, CEO, Data Explorers commented: "The stock loan data provided to us on a daily basis by over 20,000 institutional funds provides the best proxy for global short selling activity. Our clients use this content to help make better investment decisions and manage risk. Users of FT.com will now be able to factor in market sentiment alongside the powerful tools and existing market data on which they already rely".
