Clearstream’s annual Global Securities Financing (GSF) Summit 2011: New regulations force liquidity and collateral management solutions on a global scale.
Taking place in Luxembourg on 19 and 20 January with a record number of 700+ participants registered from over 30 countries. The theme for the event is “Global liquidity management – The new reality“., referring to the ongoing demand for secured financing and the growing need for cross-continental collateral management solutions.
The GSF Summit is the world’s largest gathering of fixed income and equities repurchase agreement (repo) dealers, collateral traders, securities lenders and borrowers, treasury managers and money market professionals. Almost 700 specialists from the international banking community, central banks and infrastructure providers located across the globe will take part in the 2011 event.
The 15th GSF Summit will be chaired by Roy Zimmerhansl, owner of Fin Tuition and Zimmerhansl Consulting Services.
Stefan Lepp, Member of the Executive Board and Head of Global Securities Financing at Clearstream, said: “This year’s GSF Summit will see participants from across the globe, reflecting what is today a global issue: The growing demand for efficient liquidity and collateral utilization across markets, in line with new regulatory requirements and changing business guidelines. The GSF Summit also offers an excellent opportunity to present and to discuss new services and products launched within our Global Liquidity and Risk Management Hub.”
Clearstream offers a wide range of collateral management services together with a suite of securities lending products under the GSF services. In December 2010, the GSF monthly average reached an outstanding volume with all-time high of 576 billion euros illustrating the growing importance of secured financing and the continued search for a centralized liquidity hub.
Clearstream has long focused on securities financing mechanisms which provide much of the liquidity to the world’s capital market. Clearstream’s approach to create a Global Liquidity and Risk Management Hub for the industry allows the company to offer a highly automated, smooth and safe environment for its clients, i.e. borrowers, lenders, and those dealing with bonds, cash, equities or funds – or any participant collateralising those assets.
