Preqin: Hedge funds chalk up 10th growth month

The hedge fund industry has recorded strong H2 performance, according to the data and intelligence provider Preqin.
Hedge funds generated gains of 0.97 percent in August 2017, extending their win streak to 10 consecutive months of positive returns.
Preqin noted that Asia Pacific-based hedge funds returned 0.98 percent in August, which was higher than either Europe (0.28 percent) or North America (0.07 percent).
These regions also saw positive growth in H1 where hedge funds closed an eighth consecutive month of gains in June with 0.57 percent returns.
Preqin found that at the end of H1, 2017 Asia Pacific hedge funds returned 1.53 percent, North America returned 0.59 percent and Europe returned 0.20 percent.
The results from June showed the hedge fund industry has seen positive returns in every month for the first half of the year for the first time since the financial crash in 2007.
