OCC securities lending activity sees significant increase

OCC's securities lending CCP activity through its central counterparty (CCP) was up 29 percent in new loans in January, compared to the same period last year.
The equity derivative clearinghouse oversaw 233,482 securities lending transactions last month.
Year-to-date, securities lending activity was up by 42 percent, with 479.8 million new loan transactions, OCC’s third highest month ever for cleared volume.
The average daily loan cleared by OCC was valued at $164.5 billion last month.
OCC ended the year with 10 million cleared futures contracts in December, up 5 percent from December 2016.
Year-to-date, OCC’s average daily cleared futures volume was up 17 percent with 567,033 contracts.
