Clearstream sees GSF spike in May

Clearstream saw a 27 percent spike in its global securities financing (GSF) volume last month, compared to the same period in 2019.
GSF notional outstanding was recorded at €569.5 billion in May, up from €447 billion in the same month a year prior.
Year-to-date (YTD) figures are also promising for the Deutsche Boerse subsidiary, with notional outstanding in its GSF market segment sitting at €527.5 billion, up from the €441.4 billion reported at this point last year; representing a 20 percent increase.
Meanwhile, Clearstream also showed modest gains in its assets under custody, with a 2 percent increase year-on-year for May and a 4 percent increase in YTD, compared to the same period in 2019.
Assets under custody sit at €14.3 trillion, up from €14.04 billion in May 2019 and €13.8 trillion YTD in 2019.
