OCC records highest ever May cleared contract volume

The Options Clearing Corporation’s (OCC) total May cleared contract volume was 724 million contracts, its highest on record.
Total May volume for the world’s largest equity derivatives clearing organisation was up 33 per cent YoY and its year-to-date average daily cleared contract volume was 39 million contracts, up 42 per cent compared to the same period last year.
OCC’s securities lending average daily loan value in May 2021 was $120 billion, a 61 per cent increase compared to May 2020. Securities lending central counterparty activity increased by 36 per cent in new loans from May 2020 with 146,703 transactions last month.
Total exchange-listed options cleared contract volume was up 33 per cent compared to May 2020 to 718 million contracts. Equity options cleared contract volume was 678 million contracts, up 33 per cent compared to May 2020. This includes ETF options cleared contract volume of 210 million, a 5 per cent increase compared to May 2020.
