Andrew Volz has joined Clear Street as COO and head of prime sales and electronic execution from JonesTrading.
Volz says he will be charged with building the revenue and client base at Clear Street, drawing on the firm’s technology expertise, balance sheet strength and client relationships across family offices, fund managers and individual investors.
Clear Street was established three years ago and models itself as a disruptive and innovative new prime broker with a “best-in-class” technology infrastructure.
The New York-based prime brokerage firm indicates that it currently has more than US$1 billion in notional traded value and a capital base of more than US$300 million to support continued expansion.
Volz leaves his role as COO at JonesTrading after five years with the company. He joined as managing director and head of prime services in 2016 and stepped up to the chief operating officer position in April 2020, based in New York.
Earlier in his career, Volz worked for four years as director of prime services sales at Wells Fargo Prime Services and, prior to this, held positions at Merlin Securities, Reval and Nirvana Solutions.
