Sunil Daswani, global head of agency securities lending at Standard Chartered, has been included in the 2021 OUTstanding 100 LGBT+ Executive List.
The global OUTstanding LGBT+ Role Model Lists, which are supported by Yahoo Finance, recognise LGBT+ business leaders and allies who are breaking down barriers and creating more inclusive workplaces.
Standard Chartered describes Daswani as a champion of inclusion who builds on his influence as global head of agency lending to promote change within and outside of the organisation.
Internally, this includes writing articles regarding LGBT+ inclusion and playing a dynamic role within the bank’s LGBT+ Network.
More broadly, Daswani is establishing a foundation, Proud to be Proud, that helps people to surmount barriers to progress and to be their authentic selves.
Sunil Daswani says: “I am honoured to accept this recognition alongside so many great advocates. It has always been important to me to support people in being their authentic selves without fear, in every part of their lives.
“I hope by promoting what I do that I will give others the courage to be themselves. I personally know how hard this can be, and the support of those who become allies for a truly inclusive workplace also makes a huge difference to people’s daily experiences.”
Carmen Müller, Standard Chartered’s Frankfurt-based head of corporates, also features in the OUTstanding 100 LGBT+ Executives List for 2021.
She says: “Recognising and realising the value that lies in openness and inclusivity in the work environment is close to my heart. As a mentor of young talent, I have had the pleasure to experience many times what happens if we support people that bring their true selves to work and how this can set free so much potential that otherwise might have been hidden”.
