OCC cleared sec lending volume rises 12 per cent YoY for October

Securities lending volumes cleared through OCC have grown 11.6 per cent YoY for October to 184,795 transactions.

However, in value terms, average daily loan value for securities lending trades cleared through OCC was down 11.6 per cent YoY for October to US$115.6 billion, indicating smaller average ticket sizes clearing across the Chicago-based platform.

Month-on-month, securities lending volumes for October 2022 were down 10.3 per cent on September 2022 figures, with average daily loan value falling 5.6 per cent relative to September 2022.

For options contracts, total volume for all options cleared through OCC has grown 10.3 per cent YoY to 905.7 million for October.

This rise has been powered by a 57.4 per cent rise in ETF options to 366.4 million and a 74.0 per cent rise in index options to 76.0 million.

For equity options, cleared volume has fallen 14.9 per cent YoY in October to 463.2 million.

For futures contracts, total cleared volume has contracted 3.2 per cent YoY for October to 4.3 million.
