OCC cleared securities lending volume climbs 8.6% for November

Securities lending volumes cleared through OCC have grown 8.6 per cent YoY for November to 188, 346 transactions.
However, in value terms, average daily loan value for securities lending trades cleared through OCC was down 19.31 per cent YoY for November to US$111.6 billion, indicating smaller average ticket sizes clearing across the Chicago-based platform.
Month-on-month, securities lending volumes for November 2022 were up 1.9 per cent on October figures, but average daily loan value contracted 3.5 per cent over the month.
For futures and options contracts, total volume for all futures and options cleared through OCC has declined 2.8 per cent YoY to 922.4 million for November 2022.
This decline is explained by a 23.4 per cent fall in equity options contracts YoY to 500.5 million and a 23.6 per cent YoY contraction in cleared futures contracts to 3.85 million.
In contrast, the volume of ETF options contracts cleared through OCC has continued to grow, rising 42.7 per cent YoY for November to 348.9 million.
Similarly, the volume of interest options cleared through OCC has risen 49.8 per cent YoY to 69.2 million for November.
