Moomoo Securities Malaysia has introduced US options trading for local investors.

Founded in 2018, Moomoo serves as a global financial information and trading platform, opening its app to the Malaysian market in February 2024.

The new US options feature will allow its users to diversify their investment strategies, hedge positions, and gain more control over their portfolios through options trading strategies, the firm says.

This move follows Moomoo’s recent survey, which found that 33 per cent of Malaysian investors are actively looking to leverage global markets as part of their strategy to diversify their portfolios.

Ivan Mok, CEO of Moomoo Malaysia, says: "We're thrilled to be the first in Malaysia to introduce US options trading. This is a transformative step for the local investment landscape, giving our users access to sophisticated financial tools typically available in more mature markets.

“With the ability to trade options on major US companies, our users can now tailor their investment strategies to both protect their portfolios from volatility and capitalise on global growth sectors like technology and AI. This is an important step for Malaysian investors looking to diversify beyond traditional stocks, and gain access to some of the world's largest markets."

Moomoo Malaysia will also continue to offer educational resources to help users of all levels understand US options trading, including in-depth guides, real-time market data, active community forums, and interactive webinars hosted by industry experts.
