The International Securities Services Association (ISSA) has introduced the Egyptian Central Securities Depository (ECSD) as a new member.

Incorporated on 25 March 2021 as an Egyptian joint-stock company, the ECSD plays a vital role in the evolution of Egypt's financial markets.

The ECSD operates in alignment with international best practices, unifying the depository, settlement, and clearing operations for all government debt instruments under one legal entity.

According to ISSA, this strategic initiative has been a “game-changer” for Egypt’s local debt market, fostering greater efficiency, transparency, and market governance.

Its establishment has enhanced the market’s appeal to foreign investors, ISSA says this positions Egypt as a competitive destination in the global financial landscape.

As a forward-looking institution, ISSA says the ECSD remains dedicated to supporting the sustainable growth of Egypt’s financial market while strengthening its ties within the global financial infrastructure community.
