Swiss investment bank UBS has expanded its team focused on the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) Refit.
Earlier this year the European Commission completed its regulatory fitness and performance programme of EMIR to review its efficiency and propose amendments.
The new legislation seeks to amend and simplify EMIR to address compliance costs, transparency issues and insufficient access to clearing for certain counterparties.
In response, UBS has added Melanie Claasen to its team focused on this project.
Claasen has expanded her remit from being solely dedicated to the bank’s Securities Financing Transactions Regulation (SFTR) activities to now include EMIR Refit.
Previously, Claasen was an SFTR programme manager, a role she held since January last year. Before that, she was an uncleared bilateral margin project manager at UBS from between 2015 and 2019.
Prior to UBS, Claasen worked at J.P. Morgan as a vice president for eight years, between 2007 and 2015.
