Regulatory reporting service provider Cappitech has appointed Coinbase's Mark Kelly to its board of advisors.
Through Capptivate, its cross-regulation platform, Cappitech offers transaction data collection services required to comply with regulations such as the Securities Financing Transactions Regulation and the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR), among others.
Cappitech founder and CEO Ronen Kertis said that Kelly, who has three decades of financial industry experience, was selected due to his "highly specialised insight into the regulatory environment".
Kertis said that Kelly will have "an important impact on the development of new products as well as engagements with customers".
Kelly, who also currently serves as head of compliance UK for Coinbase, a digital currency exchange, has held senior roles at PwC and Grant Thornton.
He has also worked in senior audit and compliance roles in large investment banks including Lehman Brothers, Salomon Brothers and Barclays Capital.
Kelly has spent the past 10 years focusing on the needs of financial firms subject to the second Markets in Financial Instruments Directive and EMIR.
Commenting on his new role, Kelly said: “Cappitech’s approach, which looks at the practical realities of reporting requirements and aims to lessen the burden while maximising the re-use of collected data is one I fully support.”
