EBA board of supervisors selects new director

The European Banking Authority (EBA) board of supervisors has nominated Gerry Cross to be the new executive director of the authority.
Currently, Cross serves as a director of financial regulation policy and risk, at the Central Bank of Ireland.
Cross was selected from a shortlist of candidates compiled by the EBA Selection Committee, and he will be invited to a public hearing.
After confirmation by the European Parliament, he will be appointed for a renewable five-year term.
Meanwhile, Irene Tinagli, the chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON), has been informed about the decision in line with the EBA Regulation.
