Pierpoint welcomes Bakker as new Benelux lead

Pierpoint Financial Consulting, a boutique consultancy focused on securities finance and collateral management, has bolstered its roster of senior consultants with the appointment of Jeroen Bakker as its new Benelux consulting lead.
Bakker, based in Amsterdam, takes over the mandate of Raymond Blokland who retired earlier this year.
In addition to managing the firm’s Benelux clients, Bakker will also be spearheading Pierpoint’s overall sales strategy across all regions.
Bakker brings more than 20 years of securities finance expertise on both the buy and sell side and has held senior roles with HSBC, RBC and Dexia Securities Services in the Netherlands (now part of RBC).
For HSBC he served as director, marketing and exclusives manager for securities borrowing and lending and prime finance between 2010 and 2018. Before that he was with RBC Dexia Investor Services for just under five years, where he operated as European head of trading, securities lending, among other roles.
Bakker has spent the past year managing his own consultancy firm, Ampalo, focused on the securities finance and collateral management industry.
“I am very excited to join a group of elite industry veterans and am looking forward to working with the team,” says Bakker. “Securities finance is increasingly a cross-product, integrated activity at both buy-side and sell-side firms and I look forward to working with clients to optimise their businesses.”
On his latest hire, Pierpoint founder and practice lead, Roy Zimmerhansl, adds: “I have sat across the table from him as a counterparty so I know he brings deep knowledge and creative thinking to issues facing market participants.”
Pierpoint works with buy-side and sell-side firms, vendors and consultants that are actively engaged in securities finance as well as those considering participation.
In a statement, the firm says the hire reflects its core offering of "insider's knowledge" of the securities finance business gained by the team over many years in industry leadership roles.
Bakker will work alongside former global head of securities lending at BNP Paribas Securities Services, John Arnesen, who oversees the firm’s consulting operations.
