D&I doyenne Okeatta Brown to boost MUFG’s diversity and inclusion efforts

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) has hired Okeatta Brown as head of inclusion & diversity (I&D) for the Americas, to bolster the bank’s diversity and inclusion efforts in the region.
Brown will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina and will lead the I&D team, providing direction to MUFG’s Executive I&D Council and act as a link between MUFG’s enterprise resource groups and business unit I&D councils.
Chief human resources officer for the Americas Amy Ward says of the hire: “Okeatta has demonstrated a passion for service and community stewardship throughout her career, and we welcome her dedication and enthusiasm as we work to further enhance and advance our inclusion and diversity initiatives at MUFG.”
Brown joins the US arm of the Japanese financial services company from US multinational Wells Fargo, where she was most recently senior vice president and lead external engagement strategist for diverse segments, representation, and inclusion.
The US operations of MUFG has total assets of $331 billion as of March 2021. As part of that total, MUFG Americas Holdings Corporation (MUAH), a financial holding company, bank holding company, and intermediate holding company, has total assets of $170 billion as of March 2021.
MUFG Securities Americas, a subsidiary of MUAH, is a registered securities broker-dealer which engages in capital markets origination transactions, domestic and foreign debt and equities securities transactions, private placements, collateralised financings, and securities borrowing and lending transactions.
