BIS names Luis Bengoechea deputy head of banking

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has appointed Luis Bengoechea as deputy head of banking.
Bengoechea has served as acting deputy head of the banking department since January.
Before this, he was head of treasury, where he was responsible for several large initiatives under the Innovation BIS 2025 Treasury Strategy, such as BIS’ transition from Libor to new risk-free rate benchmarks.
He joined the BIS in 1998 from the private sector.
Commenting on the appointment, Peter Zoellner, head of the BIS banking department, says: “Luis’s deep knowledge and leadership experience will continue to be a valuable asset to the Banking department.”
