Independent prime broker Clear Street has expanded its technology leadership team with the hire of Jonathan Daplyn and Hari Godbole.
Daplyn will report to the firm’s co-founder and CEO Chris Pento, while Godbole will report to Daplyn.
In the New York-based role, Daplyn will lead the firm’s 150 technologists as chief information officer (CIO). He will also manage and implement the firm’s future roadmap.
Daplyn joins Clear Street from Morgan Stanley, where he was instrumental in building a global prime brokerage business as head of prime brokerage technology.
As managing director and vice president of engineering at Clear Street, Godbole will oversee technology for the firm’s derivatives, securities finance and clearing, as well as settlement and custody departments.
Godbole brings more than 20 years of experience to Clear Street. He most recently served at Cantor Fitzgerald as CIO of Cantor Fitzgerald Secured, CIO of Helix Financial Systems, and chief technology officer of Post Trade Technology.
Previously, Godbole held a number of senior positions at Citi, Fidelity Capital Markets and J.P. Morgan.
Commenting on the appointments, Sachin Kumar, Clear Street co-founder and chief technology officer, says: “Jon and Hari have the expertise and vision to help guide our organisation as we pioneer a technology-first experience for prime brokerage to compete with the best in the world.
“Under their leadership, we will build improved experiences for our clients and accomplish our mission to replace the outdated infrastructure used across capital markets.”
Daplyn adds: “I am excited to join the Clear Street team at this pivotal moment. With its cloud-native clearing and custody system, Clear Street is setting the standard for technology in risk management, execution management, portfolio management and more.”
