Nomura hire Borkakoty

Nomura have announced the appointment of Indraneil Borkakoty as head of equity capital markets (ECM), India. Borkakoty will report to head of investment banking for India, Nipun Goel and head of ECM for Asia (Ex Japan), Mark Williams.

Goel added: "Indraneil brings invaluable experience and expertise. This will further strengthen Nomura's presence and continued build-out in India as a leading Asia-based global investment bank."

Indraneil joins from Kotak Mahindra Capital, where he headed ECM. Prior to this Borkakoty worked at ICICI Securities, KPMG, and Lazard. With 15-years experience, Borkakoty brings an extensive track-record in equity capital markets, having managed numerous landmark transactions.

"This appointment is crucial to our strategy of building the leading ECM franchise in Asia," Williams said.

Nomura India President and CEO Vikas Sharma commented: "I am pleased to announce Indraneil's appointment. India is a market of key strategic importance to Nomura. This appointment further highlights the strength of our platform to attract outstanding professionals."
