Daiwa Capital Markets has hired Christopher Owen as head of secured financing for its Global Equity Finance franchise. In this senior role in the firm’s global derivatives business he reports to Charlie Day, London-based regional head of derivatives (Europe & the Middle East) and head of global equity finance. Owen joins from Nomura where he was executive director, financing products management.

“Christopher has a proven track record for matched book revenue generation and significant experience as a prime services liquidity and collateral trading specialist. I welcome him to the firm and am confident his experience will prove valuable to us as we continue to grow our client centric offerings,” commented Day.

In addition to his career at Nomura, where he also served as chief operating officer of Prime Services, Mr Owen held senior roles at HSBC where he was head of collateral trading (Equity Finance/Balance Sheet Management). He has also worked at JP Morgan and ABN Amro.
