State Street appoints new head of securities finance

State Street Corporation has appointed Alex Lawton to senior managing director and head of securities finance for State Street Global Markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Lawton will be responsible for developing the securities finance business across the region whilst helping State Street’s clients to navigate the evolving regulatory framework.
He will report to Rajen Shah, head of State Street Global Markets for EMEA and Lou Maiuri, global head of securities finance.
Prior to joining State Street, Lawton served as head of equity finance and equity prime services, EMEA at Barclays.
He has also held other senior roles including head of prime brokerage for EMEA at Bank of America and global head of structured equity trading at Dresdner Kleinwort.
Maiuri commented: “Lawton’s experience will be a great asset as we continue to develop our securities finance business. [His] appointment is testament to our continued focus on this important market segment.”
Alex succeeds Don D’Eramo who after five years of heading up the securities finance team for EMEA, has decided to return to North America at the end of June 2015.
