SMBC Nikko Securities Americas, a New York-based member of SMBC Group, has appointed Ted Langworthy as executive director and head of the equity finance team.
Langworthy has a vast amount of experience in securities lending and equity financing spanning two decades.
During this time, he has worked for a number of global financial institutions, including Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank and HSBC, where he delivered an array of financing products and synthetic financing solutions to clients.
He joins the firm as one of a number of hires across SMBC Nikko Securities Americas’ equity execution business.
The move highlights the firm's investment in its equity businesses, with a keen focus on expanding its capabilities and presence in Japanese and US equities markets.
Also joining SMBC Nikko Securities Americas is Allen Jordan, who has been appointed as executive director with a focus on US equity sales trading. In this role, he is expected to introduce the firm’s Japanese equity advisory, execution and equity capital markets (ECM) offerings.
Marc Rosa has been appointed as executive director and specialist in international equity sales trading at the firm. Previously, Rosa covered Asia-Pacific for North American clients at Macquarie for 18 years.
He will use this experience to strengthen the Japanese equities sales trading effort at SMBC Nikko Securities Americas and will be responsible for utilising his relationships for US equity sales trading, low-touch sales of Japanese equities, and introducing new offerings such as ADR conversions and programme trading.
Commenting on the appointments, Masahito Nonaka, deputy president, SMBC Nikko Securities America, says: “These hires help reinforce our commitment to our equity clients and the overall equity business.
“In addition to introducing new clients to our institutional business, the team plans to use SMBC’s strengths in developing new equity product offerings. Completing this will only further our reach with the institutional equity community.”
